There’s a new laser vision correction option in town. We are proud to offer SMILE (SMall Incision Lenticule Extraction), a minimally invasive procedure designed to reduce or eliminate the need for glasses or contacts for patients with myopia (nearsightedness), thin corneas, and/or chronic dry eye. SMILE can produce similar visual results to LASIK vision correction.
Good candidates for laser vision correction (LASIK or SMILE) will have healthy corneas, no eye disease, a stable vision prescription for at least one year, and be at least 18 years of age. We offer free LASIK Consultations to assess your eye health and determine if LASIK or SMILE would be safe and potentially effective procedures for you.
During the SMILE procedure, a tiny incision is made on your cornea using a laser to allow your doctor to remove a small amount of corneal tissue. During LASIK, a laser is used to create a corneal flap so the underlying tissue can be reshaped. The goal of both procedures is to alter the shape of your cornea so light entering the eyes will land more directly onto your retina (back of the eye) to produce clearer vision.
