Now Offering Same-Day Cataract Surgery

For patients who live farther from our Fort Collins surgery center, traveling for multiple cataract appointments can be challenging. Our Same-Day Cataract Surgery pathway is designed to make the process more convenient by combining pre-operative testing, surgical consultation, and cataract surgery into a single visit.

For eligible patients, this means one trip to Fort Collins per eye instead of multiple appointments on separate days. When appropriate, we may also perform the first post-operative exam on the same day.

Our goal is to make cataract surgery more efficient and accessible while providing the same high level of personalized care. For some patients, an overnight stay may be helpful to accommodate early or late appointments. We have partnered with several nearby hotels to offer preferred rates for our patients.

Successful implementation of this pathway requires close collaboration with your office to ensure appropriate patient selection. Prior to recommending same-day evaluation and surgery, we ask that you consider the following factors:

  • The patient’s overall medical and ophthalmic health
  • The patient’s ability to adhere to pre- and post-operative instructions
  • The presence of adequate social support for post-operative care at home

While we aim to make this option available to as many patients as appropriate, we recognize that it may not be the best fit for every individual. 

In addition to this Same-Day Surgery option, we will continue to offer our traditional cataract surgery pathway, ensuring flexibility based on patient needs and preferences.

Coordinated Care Every Step of the Way

While our Same-Day Cataract Surgery pathway simplifies a patients visits, their care and safety remain our top priorities.

Our team will work closely with the patient and the referring providers team before and after surgery to ensure all necessary pre-operative and post-operative instructions are understood and followed. We’ll provide the patient with clear guidelines and instructions to help them prepare for their procedure, know what to expect on surgery day, and support a smooth recovery.

By staying closely connected with both the patient and the referring provider, our team helps ensure that every step of their cataract care is coordinated—from the initial referral through post-operative care.
