Blepharoplasty - is eyelid surgery to remove excess, loose skin and reduce prominent fat pads when present. This surgery can help reduce the fatigued appearance that comes with excess skin folds on the eyelids. Blepharoplasty is one of the most common plastic surgical procedures performed. Age, allergies (eyelid swelling) and genetics (often runs in families) are contributing factors to the development of excess eyelid skin  Blepharoplasty can be performed on the upper and lower eyelids and the surgery should be customized for each individual. Dr. Reistad has performed several thousand blepharoplasty surgeries on both men and women. Additionally, Dr. Reistad has experience with Asian blepharoplasty and the variations found in the anatomy of the Asian eyelid.

Brow Lift - is surgery to achieve elevation of low, drooping eyebrows. Eyebrow descent occurs with time, gravity, sun exposure (squinting) and genetics. There are a variety of techniques to elevate the brows. One of the more common is the Endoscopic brow lift or “Endo-Brow”.  This cosmetic procedure utilizes several small incisions hidden near the hair line to facilitate release and subsequent elevation of the forehead and eyebrows. Other browlift surgeries include browpexy, direct brow lift, pretrichial brow lift.

Non-surgical elevation of the brow can also be achieved with properly placed Botox and/or filler materials. This treatment is effective for patients with minimal brow ptosis, however, it is temporary and therefore requires re-treatment.

It is important to realize that brow position plays an important role in the appearance of the eyes and affects the amount of excess skin on the upper eyelid. Some patients will have limited results from upper eyelid surgery alone if the brows are in a low position (minimal space between eyelashes and brow hairs). Dr. Reistad will evaluate you carefully and inform you what can be achieved with each surgery.
