Patrick D. Arnold, M.D.
Pediatric Ophthalmology & Adult Strabismus
Dr. Arnold graduated from Colorado State University and received his medical degree from the University of Colorado School of Medicine. He completed his residency at the University of Washington and his pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus Fellowship at Northwestern University's Children's Hospital in Chicago. He is northern Colorado's only full time specialist in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus.
Kent P. Bashford, D.O.
Glaucoma and Cataract Surgery
Dr. Bashford grew up in Arvada, graduated from Brigham Young University then attended Des Moines University. He completed his residency in Ophthalmology at Ohio University/ Grandview Hospital and then completed a fellowship in Glaucoma at Yale University. He joined the Eye Center of Northern Colorado, in 2006. Dr. Bashford is a member of the American Glaucoma Society and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.Dr Bashford’s practice is focused on the medical and surgical management of glaucoma and cataracts. He has a particular interest in new surgical techniques for advanced forms of glaucoma and complex cataracts. He is the only fellowship trained glaucoma specialist in Fort Collins and Loveland.
Michelle Chaney, O.D.
Consultative Optometry
Dr. Michelle Wika Chaney received her Doctorate of Optometry from Pacific University College of Optometry where she graduated “with distinction.” Dr. Chaney also possesses an undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Wyoming. In 1988, Dr. Chaney was recognized with the American Optometric Foundation Award of Excellence for Outstanding Contact Lens Patient Care. She is a member of the Wyoming and Colorado Optometric Associations as well as the American Optometric Association. Dr. Chaney specializes in primary family vision care and contact lenses.
Kent R. Crews, M.D.
Medical & Surgical Retina
Dr. Crews grew up in Greeley and attended the University of Northern Colorado for undergraduate studies. He then attended the University of Colorado School of Medicine and graduated with Honors in 1992. His internship and residency were completed at the University of Utah. Dr. Crews then completed a fellowship in retinal disease at the University of British Columbia. His practice focuses on macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and surgical retina. Appointments by referral only.
Gary Foster, M.D.
Dr. Foster graduated from Brigham Young University, Cum Laude, and then received his M.D. degree from the University of Utah with AOA Honors. He completed his residency in Ophthalmology at the Moran Eye Center, and scored in the top one percent nationally of board certifying ophthalmologists. He then received post residency training in retinal laser and refractive surgery before joining the Eye Center of Northern Colorado, in Ft Collins in 1995. Dr Foster’s practice focuses on custom cataract correction and refractive surgery to restore vision and decrease the need for distance and reading glasses. This is accomplished through eye-enhancing cataract correction with near focusing lens implants (Restor, Rezoom, and Crystalens), laser vision correction (LASIK and PRK), phakic IOL’s, and CK.
Dr. Foster has been a principle investigator in numerous research projects to enhance eye treatment and technology, and is a certified physician trainer for the Visx laser vision correction system. He is involved in teaching advanced surgical techniques at the American Academy of Ophthalmology and The American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery national meetings, and speaks regularly on related topics to train other doctors.
Arthur Korotkin, M.D.
Dr. Korotkin graduated Summa Cum Laude from University of California San Diego in 1999. He completed medical training at University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, graduating as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. After completing an internal medicine internship at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas, Dr. Korotkin completed ophthalmology residency at University of California San Diego, where he also was elected Chief Resident. He then came to Colorado to complete a rigorous surgical and medical vitreoretinal fellowship at University of Colorado. Having been won over by Colorado landscapes and people, as well as the outstanding doctors of Eye Center of Northern Colorado, Dr. Korotkin joined the Eye Center in 2009.
Dr. Korotkin’s research interests include Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD), intraocular use of anti-VEGF drugs, and diabetic retinopathy. He is author of a number of scientific publications, including the earliest presented report on recurrence characteristics of wet AMD after successful treatment with ranibizumab (Lucentis).
Dr. Korotkin offers a full range of medical and surgical treatments for diseases of the macula, retina, and the vitreous. He is committed to achieving optimal outcomes by working closely with his patients and their referring doctors.
Ben Marske, OD
Consultative Optometry
Dr. Marske graduated from Pacific University College of Optometry in 2003. After graduation he worked for five years as an optometrist in the Air Force . After separating from the military in 2008 Dr. Marske returned to Colorado and worked at practices in Fort Collins, Colorado Springs, and Littleton until accepting the position at the Eye Center of Northern Colorado. At ECNC he will specialize in contact lenses, cataract and refractive surgery follow-ups, and comprehesive eye exams. Dr. Marske is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Colorado Optometric Association.
Karl Olsen, M.D.
Dr. Olsen grew up in Fort Collins, Colorado. He then received his undergraduate degree from St. Olaf College, graduate degree from Georgetown University in Washington, DC in 1995 and Medical degree from Georgetown School of Medicine. He completed an internship at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis and residency in general ophthalmology where he was chief resident at the University of Minnesota in 1999. He also trained in refractive laser vision correction at the Phillips Eye Institute in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He joined the Eye Center of Northern Colorado in 1999.
Dr. Olsen specializes in advanced cataract surgery techniques, including use of premium intraocular lenses that remove astigmatism and allow reading vision. He also utilizes the latest in iLASIK laser refractive surgery and conductive keratoplasty (CK).
Dr. Olsen has participated in numerous clinical research studies as principal or sub investigator and also is a cataract surgical trainer for Alcon Surgical CORE program for resident physicians.
Chet E. Reistad, M.D.
Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery of the Eyelids, Orbit, and Lacrimal System
Dr. Reistad completed his residency at Yale University. He finished an additional two-year specialized training program approved by the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
The practice of ophthalmic plastic surgery includes: cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the forehead and eyelids, tumor surgery of the eyelids and socket, periocular trauma, tearing problems, eyelid spasms, and thyroid eye disease. Dr. Reistad also performs non-surgical treatments including Botox and Juvederm.
Dr. Reistad graduated summa cum laude from Washington University in St. Louis, and went on to graduate from Washington University School of Medicine. He is board certified and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He is also a member of Phi Beta Kappa and an Eagle Scout.
Dr. Reistad treats adults and children.
Matthew Robinson, M.D.
Dr. Robinson graduated from Duke University and received his medical degree from the State University of New York at Syracuse. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Louisville, and fellowship training in cornea and refractive surgery from Louisiana State University. His subspecialty practice concentrates on medical and surgical diseases of the cornea and refractive surgery (LASIK, PRK).
William A. Shachtman, M.D.
General Ophthalmology
Dr. Shachtman is a graduate of UCLA and received his medical degree with honors from Albany Medical College. He completed his internship at UCLA and specialty training in ophthalmology at the University of Colorado. Dr. Shachtman has been practicing general ophthalmology in Fort Collins since 1977.
Randall W. Smith, M.D.
Dr. Smith graduated with Highest Distinction from Northwestern University with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering. He earned his medical degree at Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1989 and recieved awards for research in optics and corneal physiology. After his intership at Overlook Hospital, a Columbia University Affiliate in New Jersey, he returned to his home state to complete his ophthamology residency at the Eye Institute at the Medical College of Wisconsin in 1993 and served as a VA cheif resident. Dr. Smith worked in private practice in New Jersey with additional training in refractive surgery before he and his family moved to Fort Collins in 1996.
Dr. Smith's comprehensive ophthamology and refractive practice treats a wide range of eye disease including cataracts, glaucoma and macular degeneration. His practice emphasizes custom cataract surgery and laser vision correction to achieve optimal sight at all distances for his patients. He enjoys matching the multiple lens and laser options to his patient's needs including the latest in iLASIK, CK, asitgmatism-correction, Tecnis Multifocal, Crystalens and ReStor. He enjoys teaching and working with residents and other doctors and is principal or co-investigator on corneal and cataract research studies.
William W. Stevens, M.D.
General Ophthalmology
Dr. Stevens graduated from Mississippi College and received his medical degree with honors from Baylor College of Medicine. His internship was completed at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center and his ophthalmology residency was completed at Mayo Clinic. Dr. Stevens began practice in Fort Collins in 1981, at Poudre Valley Ophthalmology. In 1997, he merged his practice with the Eye Center when the new Eye Center Building opened. He practices general ophthalmology.
