CONVENTIONAL PLASTIC - lighter weight
and more impact resistant than glass lenses.
HIGH INDEX - thin light weight lens
material used to make strong corrections more attractive and
comfortable. They also absorb all harmful UV light.
POLYCARBONATE - The most impact
resistant lens material on the market.
This is the lens material of choice for children and sports.
They also absorb all harmful UV light and are light weight.
GLASS - Seldom used because it is
quite heavy compared to plastic
and is not as impact resistant and affords no UV protection.
PHOTOCHROMIC - Lens that changes
from light (indoors) to dark (outdoors)Available in most lens materials.
CONVENTIONAL BIFOCAL - Segmented
lens used to correct both distance and near vision. Available in all
lens materials and a variety of segment sizes. The same lens design is
made in TRIFOCALS used to correct distance, intermediate (arms length)
and near vision.
PROGRESSIVE LENSES - State of the
art lens design used for the same purpose as a bifocal or trifocal.
These lenses do not have lines or segments and provide a smoother
transition from distance vision to near vision.
POLARIZED - Sun lens that provides
superior protection from reflected glare.
Lens of choice for driving, fishing, skiing and many other outdoor
activities.
COMPUTER LENS - Provides specific
focal lengths for computer use.
SCRATCH RESISTANT COATING - Added
protection against scratching. Newer technology makes these coating more
effective than ever.
UV COATING - This is available on
all plastic lenses, it protects the cornea and retina from harmful
ultraviolet radiation. The treatment is standard at no additional cost
at Eye Center Optical.
ANTI-REFLECTIVE / NON-GLARE LENSES
- Reduces reflections caused by artificial light that can be distracting
and cause eye fatigue. Ideal for night driving and computer use.
